Last Sunday I got the opportunity to attempt a Lil Wayne show at the E-Werk in Cologne. He came to the city after hitting a few other europeans cities such as Barcelona. Weezy performed for about an hour all the big hits that he has scored through his career.
He did have assistant at the middle of his set from a few rappers of his Young Money label such as Mack Maine, Gudda Gudda and Hoody Baby. Every one of them performed a song that I have not hear ever before. But the important part was Lil Wayne and it was intense. Here I leave a list of the song he performed (but I am not sure to a 100% if in this particular order):
Hello, Believe Me, Love Me, Rich as Fuck, Lollipop, Got Money, Go DJ, A Milli, Loyal, HYFR, Motto, 6 Foot 7 Foot, She Will, Pop That, Drop the World, How to Love, Mirror, I´m the One, No Problems and no Worries.
The show maybe was short for the price of the tickets (60€), but for me it was a hell of a experience to see a live performance of the so called “Best Rapper Alive” (or maybe the one best rapper before King Kendrick), but definitely the rapper with the best run and peak ever: between 2007-2008 when he dropped all those mixtapes making remixes of every hot song of the moment that were even better than the originals and when the Carter III came out, with A Milli and Lollipop on it.
He did not mentioned anything about The Carter V or Birdman or all this things that we continuously hear around Wayne that have not to do with music, he did not even performed or teased a new song. All this things made me sad as a fan, because I really want to hear what Weezy has to say about his current situation and the current political and social situation in America. But it does not look like this album is near at all; we will see, let’s have faith.
But like I said, this is a guy that I had to see with my very own eyes, and every single bar he dropped was worth it.
