Berlin retailer Overkill organized a party in celebration of the release of the Master Air Max 1. They got food, drinks, screens in the storefronts, the full Air Max 1 Grails collection on display, a little game were you could win a poster and one of the Overkill x Kiss My Airs bags (they got 12 different of them, each one representing one of the Air Max included on the Master colorway), live performances and even a raffle of the white F&F pair.
As you know, this month of march Nike commemorates the 30th anniversary of the birth of his most known silhouette: the Air Max 1. In addition to re-releases like the OG colorways or the by the fans voted Atmos, the brand put out a new itineration: the Master, it could be a “What The” type of shoe, which includes on an all black leather upper little patches of past Airmax collaborations that are considered the top 12 or the grails. This models are: both Atmos x Airmax 1B, the Kid Robot x Air Max 1, the “Cherrywood” Patta x Parra Air Max 1, the Air Max 1 “Beast”, the “Kiss of Death I” CLOT x MC YAN x Air Max 1 NL, the Air Max 1 OG in red and blue, the green “Chlorophyll” Patta x Air Max 1, the “Supreme” Atmos x Air Max 1, the “Albert Heijn” Amsterdam Parra x Air Max 1 and the Air Max 1 Premium SP.
Overkill had all these 12 sneakers in combination with pieces of art, hanging on the walls, that expressed the different ideas behind each shoe. I took close ups of my favorite ones.
In my opinion, the Master is the number 1 Air Max to go after in march, just because the concept of this shoe is absolutely amazing and I believe it really puts out the character of the Air Max model through his 30 years of history; and it also looks really good (I mean that the 12 different Air Max are not randomly put together). But unfortunately I did not had a real chance to cop the shoe, people had been camping at Overkill even before the event started. So when I got there almost 40 people were queuing with their chairs.
The only one shoe that looked better than the Master was his all-white Friends & Family itineration (white is obviously always cleaner). They only got a pair, which got raffled the morning after the party.
In general it was a positive experience learning about the Air Max history and seeing all this legendary pairs at one location. So thank you to Overkill for the evening, and also for their free gifts (which included the mentioned poster designed by Need More and the bag, I got the Supreme Patta one).
